Strathmore Bagpipes: an instrument based on success!
Murray Henderson's success competing at the highest levels was the basis for his design of the Strathmore bagpipe and pipe chanter. Murray has won all the big awards more than most elite pipers, and he knows what it takes to get and maintain a great sounding instrument.
And now, in 2006, Murray's own Strathmore Bagpipe has won the highest award at The Northern Meeting—The Clasp, as well as the top prizes at the 2006 Glenfiddich Championship!
You don't have to be a Gold Medal contender to appreciate quality, however. These instruments make it easier for all levels of pipers to achieve good sound. Combined with Murray's time-tested reeds, the Strathmore Bagpipe is the right choice!
What They Are Saying About Strathmore Bagpipes and Chanters
Excerpts from a March 2005 Review by Bill Livingstone in Piper & Drummer Magazine:
What does the Strathmore sound like? It sounds very good indeed. It has a very nice presence, it's bright and clean, and while it projects well (admittedly a hard quality to measure when playing) there is a warm quality to it which is ideal for solo piping. I could achieve tonal stability over sessions of an hour and a half, and I was very pleased with the quality of the piobaireachd high G.
How often have we squinted at the space above high G to see the name of the maker? Not so with the Strathmore. The name is prominently displayed on the ball of the chanter, in large deeply engraved letters – a kind of declaration of pride, and well-deserved it is.
