Murray Henderson has been a full-time reedmaker since 1976. He has built a reputation for quality reeds by taking the time to test each reed that leaves the workshop. Because Murray has competed at the highest level, he understands the importance of reed selection for all pipers—whether Gold Medal contenders or first-time soloists. Murray's reeds have won both band and solo competitions at the highest level.
Drone reeds are available in traditional, prize-winning cane, and the very successful Henderson Harmonic plastic & Henderson Harmonic Deluxe (carbon fibre tongue). Murray can advise which reed will be best suited for your needs, and regardless of which kind of reed you select, you can be assured that they will be of the highest quality.
Murray is assisted by his wife Patricia, who has been a very successful player with prizes in the Gold Medal at Inverness.

All cane is carefully selected and very well seasoned. Pipe chanter reeds are available in all strengths—from very easy to a strong reed. If you are unsure what strength would be best for you, Murray can assist with that decision, based on your playing experience and other factors.

Carbon fibre is a terrific material to use for the tongue as it:
(a) will operate when extremely wet
(b) will last a lifetime
(c) can be set far more accurately
(d) sounds so sweet
We tested these reeds thoroughly during the design stages, including long hours of playing. Reeds continue to perform well after being dipped in a basin of cold water, excess water poured off, and reeds put right back in to play!
